Presently batteries are the commonly used due to their scalability, versatility, cost-effectiveness, and their main role in EVs. But several research projects are under process for increasing the efficiency of hydrogen energy storage system for making hydrogen a dated future ESS. 6. Applications of energy storage systems
For enormous scale power and highly energetic storage applications, such as bulk energy, auxiliary, and transmission infrastructure services, pumped hydro storage and compressed air energy storage are currently suitable.
One of the main challenges in hydrogen storage and distribution is the inherent trade-off between its high gravimetric energy density and low volumetric energy density. Although hydrogen contains more energy per kilogram than most fuels, its energy per unit volume is significantly lower under standard conditions.
For a comprehensive technoeconomic analysis, should include system capital investment, operational cost, maintenance cost, and degradation loss.
