The high reliability and efficiency of the proposed converter makes it very attractive for single-phase transformerless photovoltaic inverter applications. This paper presents a high-reliability single-phase transformerless grid-connected inverter that utilizes superjunction MOSFETs to achieve high efficiency for photovoltaic applications.
The experimental results with a 5 kW prototype circuit show 99.0% CEC efficiency and 99.3% peak efficiency with a 20 kHz switching frequency. The high reliability and efficiency of the proposed converter makes it very attractive for single-phase transformerless photovoltaic inverter applications.
Figure 7 indicates the measured efficiency. The output voltage of each inverter is maintained at 163Vrms. A different output power is derived under a different load resistance. It is indicated that the efficiency of the novel presented inverter at its rated power is equal to 99.3%, which is 1.9% more than that of a hard-switching inverter.
A MOSFET is often applied as the switch in medium and small power single-phase full-bridge inverters. In order to achieve efficient operation at a high switching frequency, a new efficient inverter is presented in this paper. In addition, two sets of identical auxiliary units are arranged on the two bridge arms.
