As previously mentioned in Section 1, CTP and CTC are two different strategies for packaging design. These approaches differ from the modular one.
The battery pack box of the target vehicle is arranged under the chassis, below the floor of the passenger compartment, disassembled from the electric vehicle. The appearance structure of the box is shown in Fig. 3. After removing the upper cover, the battery pack module is presented, and the structure is shown in Fig. 4.
This article provides a brief introduction and comparison of the current mainstream battery pack structures: CTP (Cell To Pack), CTC (Cell To Chassis), CTB (Cell To Body), and CTM (Cell To Module). CTP stands for Cell To Pack, meaning that the cells are directly assembled into the battery pack.
A robust and strategic battery packaging design should also address these issues, including thermal runaway, vibration isolation, and crash safety at the cell and pack level. Therefore, battery safety needs to be evaluated using a multi-disciplinary approach.
