Concurrently, the energy storage system can be discharged at the peak of power consumption, thereby reducing the demand for peak power supply from the power grid, which in turn reduces the required capacity of the distribution transformer; thus, the investment cost for the transformer is minimized.
Firstly, this paper proposes the concept of a flexible energy storage power station (FESPS) on the basis of an energy-sharing concept, which offers the dual functions of power flow regulation and energy storage. Moreover, the real-time application scenarios, operation, and implementation process for the FESPS have been analyzed herein.
These transformers are based on power electronics technology, allowing for greater control and flexibility in managing the distributed energy resources within a microgrid.SSTs have the capability to regulate and control the bi-directional power flow, which is crucial for balancing the power generation and consumption within a microgrid .
For each typical application scenario, evaluation indicators reflecting energy storage characteristics will be proposed to form an evaluation system that can comprehensively evaluate the operation effects of various functions of energy storage power stations in the actual operation of the power grid.
Further research directions Due to the important application value of grid side energy storage power stations in power grid frequency regulation, voltage regulation, black start, accident emergency, and other aspects, attention needs to be paid to the different characteristics of energy storage when applied to the above different situations.
For example, Station A has advantages over other power stations in terms of comprehensive efficiency and utilization coefficient, while it is relatively insufficient in terms of offline relative capacity, discharge relative capacity, power station energy storage loss rate, and average energy conversion efficiency.
